Bank Statements Format and Requirements for UK Visas

Format of Bank Statements required by the UK Home Office for UK Visa Applications

As part of the UK visa applications, bank statements are required in most cases. A standard has been set for the documents including bank statements which are approved by the UK Home Office or UKVI. As part of documents, you do not need to send us paper statements or print them off. You can send us PDF bank statements downloaded using Mobile Banking App or Internent Banking.

For almost all UK based banks, Monthly PDF statements downloaded from using mobile app or internet banking are normally in a ideal format to use. You do not need to get monthly downloaded bank statements stamped from the bank. If you are unable to download bank statements, you may consider to get help from the bank or family members.

Alternatively you can ask your bank to print your bank statements in branch. Bank stamp and authorised signature by the bank official will be required. Monthly internent banking downloaded statements are not required to be stamped.

Specified Format for the Bank Statements

  • Bank Statements must be monthly, quarterly or annually produced.
  • Produced or printed on the official stationary of the bank I.e. Letterhead paper showing bank name and logo.
  • The bank statements must have full name of the account, account number and sort code or IBAN number.
  • Should have bank statement period, with all pages showing all transactions during the relevant bank statement period.
  • All information must be clearly visible.

Following Bank Statements Formats are Not Accepted by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Home Office

  • Print of transactions will not be accepted.
  • Mini bank statements are not accepted by Home Office or British High Commission.
  • Any Statements with hidden balance, transactions or any other hiddem details will be rejected.

Consequences of not providing documents in required format

Any bank statements which do not meet the criteria can result in refusal or delay of visa application. Therefore, we strong recommend to follow abive guidance. If in doubt, please send a copy of one bank statement to your allocated immigration adviser to check that whether bank statements and financial documents are in the specified UKVI foramt.
