Introduction
This visa allows commonwealth citizens to come to UK for 5 years. The visa allow to work, study and bring dependants such as children and partner. If you’ve lived in the UK for 5 years on this visa, you can apply to extend stay for another 5 years or apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR, Permanent Residence) in the UK. After 12 months of getting ILR and meeting residence requirements, naturalisation application can be made as long as rest of the mandatory requirements are met.

Eligibility Requirements
To make an application for UK ancestry visa, you should be a Commonwealth citizen. You also need to provide evidence that one of your grandparents (Grandfather or Grandmother) was born in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man. In addition if one of the grandparents was born before 31 March 1922 in what is now Ireland or born on ship or aircraft that was either registered in the UK or belonged to the UK government. Your parents or grandparents does not have to be married. You can also make application for Ancestry visa UK if you or your parents were adopted. The application can not made if parents were step parents. You also need to prove that you are able, intend and plan to in the UK without recourse to the public funds. You have enough money to support yourself and your dependants such as partner and children.
